The Army Combat Uniform, or ACU as it's commonly known, is the current combat uniform worn by the US Army. Army Combat Uniforms are comprised of ACU pants and ACU coats, typically topped off with a matching ACU patrol cap.
ACUs are being produced in multiple camo patterns. The most popular, and standard Army issue, is Universal Camouflage. Digital desert, digital woodland, and Multicam ACUs are also popular patterns.
They are constructed using a synthetic Cotton blend to resist shrinking, and a permanent press finish is applied to keep them looking sharp with minimal upkeep. Finally, these ACUs are topped off with a Dupont Teflon finish to make them water and stain resistant.
The Army Combat Uniform has proven to be such an effective battledress, that they are now being used in many applications outside of Army uniforms. Since it's introduction in 2005, the ACU has quickly become one of the most popular military uniforms of our time. |
